Spay/Neuter Programs

Portage Animal Protective League is dedicated to try and find a home for every animal. Our work will never be complete unless we tackle the problem of overpopulation through several spay/neuter programs. Portage APL works with local veterinarians for our shelter animals and offers several programs for the public.

Friends of Animals Certificates for Cats and Dogs

If you would like to have your pet spayed or neutered at a local veterinarian, we sell FOA certificates that will reduce the typical vet fee. Many dedicated area vets accept this certificate in lieu of their regular fees. The cost of the certificate includes a processing fee.

Female dog $100 ----- Male dog $74

Female cat $75 ----- Male cat $61

You can purchase these certificates at Portage APL during regular business hours.

MASH Clinic for Cats

The MASH clinic is for cat spay/neuter. This mobile van is parked at Portage APL one or two days every month. All healthy pets, stray cats and barn cats are welcome by appointment. At this time due to equipment reasons, MASH does not do surgery on Persians. Fees are $35 for males and $50 for females, which includes a nonrefundable $5 processing fee. Please call us to schedule an appointment for the next open clinic date, or to be put on a waiting list if no open dates available at this time.

Low Income program for Cats in Portage County
