Who We Are

Portage APL Leadership

Change an Animal's Life

Director’s Message

Welcome! On behalf of the staff, board of directors, APL volunteers, and homeless animals, thank you for visiting. I hope you can easily find what you are looking for here.

Portage Animal Protective League is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, dedicated to the care and welfare of the abused, abandoned, homeless, sick and injured animals in Portage County. Countless animals come to us each year, and unfortunately, some cannot be accommodated until space becomes available. We help as many as we can with the resources available. Our Humane Officer works tirelessly to uphold and enforce the Ohio animal cruelty laws in all of Portage County.

All of our efforts are funded through donations. Our animals regularly need immunizations, spay and neuter surgery, heartworm preventative and much more.  Many times animals are  in need of surgery to mend broken limbs and wounds, dental disease, eye injuries and treatments for serious illness. This is only possible through donations.

Many of your questions may be answered by clicking on Frequently Asked Questions but feel free to call or email us if you need help. Covid-19 has changed some of our operations but rest assured we are still here, providing much needed services and saving lives.

We are proud of our efforts to serve the community and the animals and people in it. And thank you in advance for your support.

Thank you for visiting our site!
