Rocky

As of June 29, 2021, Rocky has been adopted into his new forever home! You can help support the animals that come through Portage APL with your generous donations – and it’s as easy as giving online!

When it rains, it pours. We took in another very neglected dog this week. The Dog Warden picked him up and called us immediately to see if we could take him in. Of course, we said yes. We’ve named him Rocky. He was in terrible condition. His matted fur was soaked in feces and the severe matting has caused sores and wounds and his feet seem to he burned from long term exposure to urine. Luckily we we able to get him groomed and cleaned up immediately and as you can see, underneath he is a very handsome boy. He will be examined by a veterinarian to check his poor feet and skin. He will need some TLC before he can be adopted and we are so thankful that we can help animals like Rocky. We can only do it with support from donors. Two weeks later, this small handsome fella sure had a rough go there for a bit, but he is feeling and looking better every day. His tiny 8 lb body was covered in mats, feces and sores when he arrived. Since then he has been to the groomer and the vet a couple of times. His skin is doing better and his feet are healing from the burns (from urine). He was neutered today and will be ready for a home tomorrow! Despite what he has been through, he is a very sweet boy. He is only about 3 years old and has a lot of love to give. Because we do not know his history, people should bring their dogs and children to appointments to meet him.
