VOLUNTEER INFORMATION:
**Due to an overwhelming response to our invitation for volunteers (as of 4/3/2026), we are putting a pause on accepting volunteers for now. We will announce when we reopen our volunteer program. We need to get all of current volunteers trained before we can accept more. Thank you all for your interest for helping the animals!
Our volunteers are very important to Portage APL. From foster parents and dog walkers to board members and event committees, they make our operation run and would not be able to function well without them.
If you would like to volunteer with the APL, please visit us at the shelter to fill out a volunteer application and other paperwork. We will need a copy of your photo ID as well. Once that is done, you will contact the appropriate person to set up a training for which area of interest you would like to serve. You must be at least 16 years of age. Thank you for your interest in volunteering!
We do not honor community service or school service hours. We need our volunteers to commit to a consistent schedule, whatever that may be, for the animals.
