Autumn brings cooler temperatures, colorful leaves, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors with your pets. But the changing season also brings a few things to watch for.
As temperatures drop, make sure pets spending time outdoors have access to warm, dry shelter. Older pets and those with short coats may be especially sensitive to chilly mornings and evenings.
Keep an eye out for mushrooms, some of which can be toxic if eaten, and remember that piles of fallen leaves may hide sharp objects or other hazards. Fall yard cleanup also means fertilizers, pesticides, and other lawn products may be within reach of curious noses and paws.
Fall is also a great time to check your pet’s identification tags and microchip information. With holiday activities and visitors coming and going, even the most well-behaved pets can slip through an open door.
A little extra attention and preparation can help keep your furry family members safe, comfortable, and ready to enjoy everything autumn has to offer!
